Job Description:
A Cognos BI Developer with Ab Initio role requires designing and developing reports, dashboards, and data models using Cognos, while also being responsible for high-volume data processing and ETL pipeline management using Ab Initio. The job involves translating business requirements into analytical applications, building and maintaining BI solutions, and troubleshooting data issues. The role demands collaboration with business analysts and other teams to deliver data insights that support decision-making.
Key responsibilities
Design, develop, and test BI solutions, including reports, dashboards, and visualizations, using IBM Cognos Analytics.
Collaborate with data architects to model data warehouse metadata and design efficient data models for analytical purposes.
Monitor, support, and debug existing data pipelines developed in Ab Initio, and maintain the reliability of production jobs.
Develop and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, often using Ab Initio or other ETL tools.
Gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for BI solutions.
Ensure the performance and reliability of BI solutions, optimize data, and handle production defects or technical issues.
Work with business users, data architects, and project teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
Establish and manage reporting environments, and develop processes for migrating reports between development, test, and production environments.
